ABOUT US

Engaged International was founded by Devon Harris. Devon worked in missions from 2014 to 2020 where he got to see and experience short term missions and its impact both on the “missionaries” and for those on the receiving end of the mission. In 2018 Devon graduated from Oak HIlls Christian College with a degree in Ministry and Leadership. For his final paper he wrote on the topic of Ethical Short Term Missions.Combining both experience on the short term mission field with research, Engaged International was born out of a heart for the nations to know God while also seeking to “engage internationally” more responsibly and effectively. We look to partner with ministries that are locally founded and led.

OUR MISSION

We seek to advance God’s Kingdom by providing the financial support that foreign missions need. Through developing deep relationships with foreign ministries and their leadership, we are able to understand and meet their financial needs. By skipping the need to train missionaries in language, culture, and support raising we are able to effectively see God’s work being done by those who already live in the mission field and are seeking to accomplish God’s work!

OUR APPROACH TO MISSION WORK

We believe that the best approach for foreign missions is to support the mission of ministries already in foreign nations. The tens of thousands of dollars that go to a single short term trip could be enough to sustain a ministry for a full year!We seek out ministries in foreign nations that are doing work that advances the Kingdom of God both in the teachings of Christ and in practical ways. The two fold focus is important because we believe the message of Christ is the foundation of life. With the message alone though, communities are often left with an incomplete understanding of God’s kingdom here on Earth. The practical aspect we look for are ministries that help their local communities in meeting immediate needs. That can be food donations, education, health care, or taking care of orphans and widows.It is our belief that you cannot have the message of Christ without the practical care for your community.

MINSTRY PARTNERS

DICE Ministries Kenya is our first ministry partner! We came into contact with them when Devon Harris was leading Short Term Mission trips to Kenya in 2019 and 2020. DICE Ministries has three key ministries that it runs.

SURGE - A 6-month, fully-sponsored discipleship and mentorship program targeting high-school graduates from humble backgrounds. Students are trained in Discipleship & Evangelism, Basic Computer Skills, and Peer Education & Life Skills.HIGH SCHOOL MINISTRY - Weekly discipleship programs in high schools in Lucky Summer - Baba Dogo area. The programs seek to empower high school students with biblical principles for a Christ-centered life.SHORT TERM MISSIONS - We partner with like-minded local and international Christian organizations and churches for short-term missions and programs that focus on evangelism and discipleship. We are currently collaborating with Reign Ministries (US) and GPT Hebron City (KE).

Maurice Agunda is the founder and president of DICE Ministries. Maurice started DICE in 2008 and has been personally funding the ministry for over a decade now. Volunteer staff have been the backbone of the ministry. As many of these volunteers have moved on in recent years, and Maurice becoming a first time father in 2023, the ministry is in need of help, and we have decided to be that help!
